Public and Private Pension Plans
and Fiduciary Responsibility
Hamilton and Faatz has an extensive practice in
both public and private pension law. Pension law is very complex, and our
attorneys are trained and experienced to resolve the difficult issues that arise
in pension law.
In the public pension area, we represent state
pension funds not only in Colorado, but from across the country. Our expertise
and experience is widely recognized, and our attorneys are frequently requested
to advise various boards of trustees and speak to seminars on pension and
fiduciary issues. Our services to state pension systems include serving as
general corporate counsel and as fiduciary counsel, as well as being retained to
handle special matters that may arise. We frequently work with statutory
interpretation issues, benefits questions, legislative matters, investments
contracts, insurance interpretation questions, administrative hearings,
litigation, domestic relations orders, and fiduciary concerns.
In the private pension fund area, our work
consists of the same basic work as in the public pension area. Our clients range
from small businesses to major corporate clients. Our work for these clients
involves advising them on ERISA and fiduciary issues, drafting compliance
documents, providing tax advice, handling litigation and addressing any other
matters that may arise.
